Mike, when I rebuilt the 727 that's behind my 392 I used the Pioneer Master kit from Checker Auto. It was about $90 and has the kevlar bands. I also used the B&M Transpack and a 5.0 lever. The stock lever is a 3.2, and the 5.0 makes the tranny shift REALLY hard from 2nd to 3rd! When you have your foot in it you don't notice it, but cruising around town you will, and it can be annoying. For your use, I would recommend going to the dealership and seeing if you can get a 4.2 lever, they should still be available. If I ever pull my tranny that's what I'm going to. We took the accumulator spring out on mine, and it doesn't seem to have any adverse effects. As for the 5 clutches, you will have to change the clutch drum to do that, and in my opinion it wouldn't be worth the added expense (unless you happen to have a five clutch drum lying around
). I'm not sure about the extra springs, we just put back what was in there and as I said, my tranny is holding up real well. Maybe someone else has some input on the preassure springs?
