do you have a proper ground from the battery terminal to the block and from the battery to the rad support?????   grounds for the system are very important. make sure that where ever they bolt to is clean and free of paint and oils/grease.

your voltage regulator for the alt may be bad or again- not a good ground to the case of the voltage regulator to the cowl area.

once all this is up and running can we be sure that other things are working correctly or not.!!

Ok....Now...The battery has been relocated to the trunk...The ground is back there...this has been done by the previous owner....so I have no idea then...what should I do?

I have not checked the voltage regulator....but will do so this weekend....

Thanks again for the reply....

best way is to buy a ground cable the same size as the main battery cable- but have the large eyelet on both ends. ground one from the frame-make it real good and tight- and the other to the block like the factory did to the heads.
then get the small braided one for the rear!!!
