replacing a-pillar

i have rust in the corners of my windsheild frame. i ordered both a-pillar's from amd yesterday. last night i started cutting one off. without seeing the new one first, i cut short,not wanting to cut to much out. part of it go's under the roof it looks like. but at the bottom,does it go under the firewall?? or do they butt together? does anyone have a picture of one cut out? thanks... jackie

Part of it looks to go under the cowl.  Here's a pic showing the lower R side pillar.  I removed a portion of the cowl to get to the lower support of the pillar.

thanks shawge.. are you going to cut out the whole piece,or piece it back together. i see you still have the door on. part of it goes under the door hinge..

I pieced it back together after taking out a few more rusted pieces (first picture).  All of this was done prior to the availability of A pillar patch and reproduced panels.  Please excuse my poor fabrication skills (second picture - taken before knocking down the welds some more).

The bottom flanged piece goes under the firewall flange, then the upper cowl flange.

looks like you done a good job of making the pieces.. my parts came in today at work.AMD is on the ball, thanks guys..2 day's, you can't beat that.. now i can tell more about cutting it out..
