    2 Pipe Plugs in rear of 440 Block

    Whats the purpose of the 2 pipe thread plugs in the rear of a 440 block next to the cam plug?

    the lifter galleries are drilled through the block after the block is cast , the pipe plugs close the hole into the lifter gallery

    Ok, thanks...makes sense.  Obviously an oil leak source though huh.  Guess you should use some pipe thread tape on them?
