Hey DodgeBoys, which resonators did you use at the rear?  Did it make a big difference for you?

Any benefit of moving the mufflers to the rear of the system just before the tips?  Read somewhere that would improve performance.  Not sure of the sound difference though.  If that can be a 'doable' then what about placing resonators up front just before the X-Pipe with the mufflers in the back.  Or it that stupid???    :dunno:
Think I've seen it done both ways.  Any opinions???

That is how they left the factory, resonators ahead of the axle and mufflers toward the back. "Back in the day"(1976), my daily driver and only car was a 1973 Challenger 340, PO had replaced the resonators(ahead of the axle)with straight pipes and the mufflers beside the gas tank were still there. It sounded pretty good for what passed the appearance test to be stock exhaust.

I sorta wanted to reproduce that with my car now, I was unable to locate a muffler that looked like it might put the exhaust tips in the right place. The original tips clamped right onto the muffler outlet.

My rear valance does not have the cut-outs for tips so I'm gonna use the turn-down approach.  Some have said to turn the turn-downs
very- slightly inward towards each other to help minimize drone & noise.... :clueless:.....don't know if that makes sense.  I'm also using a fuel-cell, so NO gas tank to worry about, so I could even run the tailpipes closer to the centerline of the car.  I've seen this on some cars (not challengers, though!) where the pipes looked pretty slick being centered and only about 18" apart.  Don't know how that would look on a challenger/cuda though.  I'll have to get it up in the air and experiment with location and see how it looks.

I don't have the cutouts on my rear valence either. It's just chrome pipes out back. My mufflers aren't insanely loud, so this is perfect. The turndowns will squash the sound some.
