hemi orange-tor red????

ok whats the deal here? i have been told hemi orange and tor red are the same color, hemi orange being the dodge color and tor red being the Plymouth color but the new srt challengers are available in hemi orange and tor red and they are 2 different colors ,i was at the dealership the other day and they had both and they were different. my 71 is what i thought was hemi orange but after looking at the challengers i dont know if it the right color either. my body man is ordering the paint and i need to tell him what color to order, so whats up?

nice 71 cuda in my favorite color. Looks like tor red to me. Heres a link to color charts, images, etc.

The "classic" Tor red and hemi orange were the same color, and in bright light it almost looks red, and more orange in dimmer light. Do a search for the paint codes. They are available.

our cuda is tor red and it has always looked "orange"
the new challenger "tor red" is more red than the original 71 color

ooops, I had it backward.
To me it looks more orange in bright light, and redder in dim light, but then again, my eyes arent the greatest!

It's MY understanding that Plymouth's version of Dodge's "Hemi Orange" was "Tor Red"...Chrysler cars called it something else, buit was all the same color back in the day...I wouldn't go by TODAY's cars as a good reference for colors, as i'm sure they are a close "Match" to the original colors, but not dead on...

couple questions...I noticed you have the picture titled phantazm. Interested in painting it black? 

Also, since its a 71, the original color was probably sassy grass, since limelight (the color of my car) wasnt available in 71 to my knowledge. And if you like that color, have you considered repainting it the original color?

tommy you would make a good detective. the reason the picture is tagged phantazm is because my friend owned this car in the late 80s-early 90s and he had phantazm on his plate (he couldn't get phantasm). i did consider doing the car black but my son ruled against it, i even bought white 440 billboards but will be putting a black billboard on instead. as far as the green you are probably right, i have to check the fender tag. i did consider the green also but the car is a clone  and we have decided to leave it orange.

tommy you were right, the fender tag reads fj6 which seems to be sassy grass green. those paint codes could drive you crazy. i have seen 3 or 4 different codes and names for b7 blue, jamaica blue, jubilee blue and ... i forgot the other ones already

most of the time if a car was originally a high impact color, I would recommend you get it back to that color for value purposes. But in your case, if the car is FAR from original anyway, and you like the hemi orange (who doesnt?) I say go for it.
Its my favorite color.

i feel the same way, if it was a 340,383 or 440 cuda i would put it back to its original color but it was just a 318 auto even though it has a 440-6 4 speed in it now and since it orange already its going to be alot easier to repaint it orange, and i do like orange better then the green. thanks for the input!

its slightly less dark than tor red.
A little more like tangerine? if there is such a color.
Take a close look at this pic of the engine bay of a car I almost bought a couple years ago. The owner had painted the engine area the original Vitamin C, but the exterior of the car was Tor red!
