Change of ignitionswitch on a 70 Challenger

Since i have problem with my 70 SE Challenger(it start when it want to) its a put the key in and turn and all the electrical dies. So im gonna change the ignition switch, so how its best to do that without disable the whole steering column?
My other worry is that the column is a 1973 powersteering, when i changed the powersteering i did discover that no 1970 worked but 1973 did, yeah this SE is a real hotrod and i got fooled :pullinghair:

I can't tell you how but I have kept a PDF file of a column rebuild that member CODY made. It is for a '70 but I think it would guide you to what you need to do. If you want it send an email & I will forward a link to download.

You should be able to get it done in the car, but it it was me I would just take it out.  You have to go pretty far in the column, but not hard if you take your time.  Take lot of photos and let me know if you get stuck.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I dont wanna take it out since i had a hell to get column working when i got the Challenger, it allmost dident have any steering with play that was ridicules.

I think you should check other things first like the bulkhead connector and fusible link wire. The problem you're having is usually something else.

Assuming it IS the switch, which as somebody else pointed out may not be the case, as I recall, the hardest part of changing the switch was getting the crush can off. You need a puller that can fit inside the can...

Once that was off, it was simple.

Oh, and be sure to mark your crush can before you remove or your steering wheel will not be centered when you put it back on.

Don't ask me how I know this. :-)
