Gas Tank installation

Gas Tank installation : 1973 Challenger.

The mat that goes between the tank and body .... Best replacement?
65 Satellite     361 Ruby Red Poly
72 Challenger    360 Top Banana     
73 Challenger    340 Triple Black
87 Dodge Ram     318 Blue
88 Dodge Ram     360 Grey (+)

Randy at Dixie Restorations replied to me a while back about them:

They are made from the same material, same thickness. but have no markings on them. I am out of stock at the moment, so I don't have one to take a pic of. If you're still interested, let me know and I'll send you a pic when I get some more in.

I've heard that they are nothing more than heavy roofing felt.  You can layer a few pieces together if you need to.

 Roofing felt works well as it contains oils to resist rust. I wouldn't go with an abrasive (sand) impregnated paper though.

 As a consideration, a $5 Walmart showermat also fits the bill.  :2cents:
