Step by step front end rebuild?
« on: January 08, 2012 - 11:28:54 AM »
I tried searching the forum but didn't see anything like this.  Anyone have a step by step rebuild of the front end for a 71 'cuda?  It can either be in the forum or a magazine article.  I plan on going stock with a change to the front drums to disc using the knuckle from a '73- '76 disc-equipped A-body.

What steps are you looking for. It's really just a matter of pulling off the components, having a shop
replace pressed in bushings and maybe changing the upper ball joints if you don't have the socket,
then reassembling in reverse order. A service manual will give detailed instructions on how
to r/r torsion bars and most other operations. Does this help?
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I actually have it all apart and need to reassemble.  Since I took it apart years ago, I was looking for some nice pics of someones assembly process...

The swap to 73-76 A-body front discs is common. That's what I have on my car. As a side note, the flexible lines for the drums on my 70 Challenger fit the 73-76 A-body calipers. I hope the 71 line is the same.
