Right. The knuckle goes between the gear box and the shaft. But the shaft coming out of the column slides for adjustment or in case of an accident, correct? It does on mine.
Not exactly.
The shaft is two pieces and is collapsable, but the two peices are held together by molded plastic that goes through two holes in the sections of column, and the plastic sheers in the event of an accident, collapsing the column.
If you colum is sliding in and out, it is usable (once installed the column can not really move), but it may have already been collapsed.
