Thats a great size for the rear ,245-45 17 on front works well for  subtle  big n littles , drives good too .Like a modern T/A . I run that size on a Bee.

Agreed and I think any number of people neglect to consider this when choosing tire sizes. Proportion is a lot bigger influence of making things look good than a lot of people think.

Oh yea I got talked in to 235,s and then 255,s and now have 275,s and the difference is subtle, but I noticed the way it drove ,much better,

squeeze as much tire in as you can I dolled, and rolled my inner fenders, and 1/4 ,s,so no rubbing :burnout:

That Bee is sick! Beautiful car!

OK.. so rims arrived today, dry mounted them and they will def clear the springs, which seems to be where the concern with the 5" backspace was gonna be (I have over an inch of clearance with a bare rim)

But now I'm wondering if it's gonna rub inner fender.

I'll find out tomorrow. :-)

On the front section of the spring or the rear section of the spring? E body springs are not parallel to the frame, so the rear section will be closer to the tire. You should still be okay since you aren't going to have a large sidewall bulge in that combo, but I thought I'd mention it before you mount anything up. Once things are mounted, you own em.

OK... so the good news and bad news...

Bad: I discovered that my rear end is shifted about 1/4 - 1/2" to the drivers side. Pure 70's craftsmanship. lol Easy fix, though.

Good: Everything still fit perfectly. The rear drivers tire is a little close to inner fenderwell, but clears fine. This is the single biggest change in the car yet. Hooks up MUCH better now. Of course I still get wheelspin, but when it bites those Direzzas grab hard. Super grippy. :-) Handles much crisper.

I'm glad I went with the tire sizes I did. The shorter sidewalls make a noticeable difference tightening the car up and the wheels fill the wells just fine for my taste.

So, to recap:

17x8 with 235/45/17, 4" backspace

17x9 with 265/40/17, 5" backspace

Lovin it! :-)
