Need An In Dash Ash Tray
« on: April 05, 2011 - 11:44:01 AM »
Looking for a indash ash tray for my 72 challenger. I sent mine out to get it replated and the guy liked it so much I guess he decided to keep it. The bummer is he is another mopar guy who does restorations. I ordered many parts from him and did not think he was like that. I just need the door with the ash tray I have the carriage.

That sucks!  I need one too!

There's always two sides of the story, but do you mind telling us who did this to you so we can make sure to be careful if we deal with him?

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

This goes back to early January when he said it was done gave me the price and would send it back in a shipment going out the next day. 2 weeks later I had not recieved it and called back. He said it was still sitting on his desk but it would go out in the next shipment it 2 days. 2 weeks later I had not recieved it so I called back and he said he still had not sent it but would in the next shipment. Now I am checking my account to see if he has charged me for it. There was no request for payment. I tried calling back several times and no answer. Finally I got ahold of him and he said he was busy for a couple weeks and would send it out when he got back to the shop. I never heard anything so I tried calling back for a few weeks. No answer. Then I called from my daughters phone a couple weeks ago. She has a different area code. Low and behold he answered. Said again he would send it back in a shipment going out Thursday. Well of course I have not recieved it yet. I am not calling him back again. It is obvious that he has no intention of returning it.

I have talked to people who know him and they are also suprised by his behavior. He is out in Ca. and owns a restoration shop and I will leave it at that, for now. Maybe he has some issue going on I do not know. I do know it does not take 3 full months to mail anything and I am sure he has mailed other things in the last 3 months. If he has to resort to doing this type of business I fell sorry for him.

I emailed and faxed him one last time today. So I will wait a few days and see if he responds. I want to give him every opportunity to fix this before I release his name and location.

When you find one, why don't you send it to Dubuque?  It would be closer since you are in Ill.  I sent a bunch of fasteners and brackets to Key City Plating and they turned out nice.

Thanks Burdar, but my car is at the body shop for final assembly now. When I find one I will just sand it and get some galvanized paint from auto zone and do it my self.

Well, if you change your mind and want it plated, let me know.  I forgot to send a few things that get zinc plated...I don't really want to spend another $40 for just those few things.  We could combine our pieces and split the cost.

I have an ashtray.  Might be beyond what you want to do.  Check it out.

Any body still need an ash tray, I found an extra one out of a 70 Challenger.  Some rust on the inside of the tray, but the outside looks OK.  Pm me if you are interested, and make me an offer.
