Love your "73.your back end stance reminds me of when i had my 71 charger.always got hassled by the cops for having my a$$ end to high.

Back in the mid 70's I got a ticket from Georgia State Patrol for my Roadrunner's backend being 1/4" too high.  Now, this 'measurement' was made with the car pulled off on the side of the road with the nose pointing down a slope and the backend closer to the road.  I offered to pull the car back onto the pavement so the trooper could make an accurate measurement but he declined ....

I've owned more 71 cudas than any other year, but I really enjoy driving my wife's 73. We just made a few tasteful mods and kind of kicked it up a notch. I lost the guards, tucked the bumpers in tight, recessed the side markers, painted the grille center black and the rest to match and added 71 style gills to the fenders and a 71 style gull wing on the trunk. The engine is a 95 Dodge truck 5.9 and A518 overdrive tranny. The rear has 3:55 gears and I added Boyd 17's. The car gets 29 mpg. I really don't have all that much in the build so it makes the car just that much more fun to drive. You can make the 72-74 Barracudas and Challengers look just as awesome as the 70 and 71's. The majority of the people out there don't know the difference in the years anyway.

On interstate with the cruise set and in overdrive it absolutely gets 29 mpg. It's been checked numerous times. It gets 23 mpg driving through the mountains from here to Branson, MO. We make that trip every August.
Everyone tried to get me to reflash the computer. I'm very glad that I didn't.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.......thats awesome.

I have  an 03 durango with the 5.9 and 3.91s.....its 4x4 (part time) too......I only get maybe 15 if I am lucky on the highway, cruising, all flat.......of course my Durango has the aerodynamics of a cinder block....LOL

My 92 Dakota has the (first) magnum 318 and it gets around the same.....11 around town, 15 highway....

Of course I drive both like I stole them....

Still, you are getting TWICE the mileage.

That is a sweet setup dude.

Do you have pics of the install?

I'd go so far as to say most don't even know what it is. Fifteen years ago I'd get 'what year is it?'. Now I get 'what kind of car is that?'

This is what it looks like under the hood. I used the truck computer, engine harness and relay box as well as the cruise control out of the truck. I'm using 3:55 gears (open track) and I seriously don't know why its getting that kind of mileage. My brother drove the car on its maiden voyage to a car show on the other side of the Ouchita mountains. When we re-filled the tank after the trip we did the math and it came out to 22.9 mpg. I redid the math and it came out the same so I figured we did something wrong. The next time we filled it up it came out slightly higher. Then two years ago we made a trip on I-40 which is fairly flat since it follows the Arkansas river valley and with the cruise set driving 70 it got 29 mpg. My advice is to leave the computers alone and don't re-flash them.
I have a 5.7 hemi to put in the car but I kind of hate to think about letting go of that kind of mileage. I just wish my Superbird did that well. Even keeping my foot out of it and driving on the center 2 barrel, it only gets around 14 mpg.

Check out the recessed side markers in pic five.

Too true. I usually get "nice Mustang" or "is that a Mustang".
