Never changed intake on a 440.  Been reading and looks like most use a set of regular intake gaskets UNDER the valley between pan and head for oil leakage and then NO gasket between intake and valley pan.  Is this the perfered method?  Some use say a little RTV around the ports between the valley pan and intake manifold.  What do you think?  Is the permatex blue OK?   What should I torque the bolts too?

ALSO.......... The holes in the intake for the coil are going to be right under the fuel line going to my carb. Where do most place their coil when using a SD and dual line holley carb? Firewall or make a special bracket to hold the coil?

Thanks in advance....

Thanks in advance.

in theory, the metal tray should be sandwiched between the two paper gaskets on each side.  In practice, sometimes the intake will not sit down far enuf to use both gaskets on each side, so then use the paper on bottom, then the tray, then the intake.

Do not use silicone as it is not gasoline resistant.  Use a high tach sealer, or something like Gasgacinch

I didn't use any gaskets. I put Gasgacinch on both sides of the valley pan around ports. I used RTV under the valley pan at the front and back where the rails hold it down. No problems. My coil is mounted on the passenger's side inner fender due to the previous owner being not so brite.   :banghead:  It works since the distributor cap is in close proximity, but I would have liked it to have been on the firewall.

I usually mount the coil with only 1 bolt not two to clear the fuel line
