Holley 1945 1 barrel question
« on: June 03, 2011 - 09:12:10 PM »
Need a little help. I'm rebuilding a Holley 1945 and I did not find a check ball and weight as per the manual. I don't think I dropped it out during disassembly. Did they ever replace them with a needle valve? looks like there is something in there but no ball and weight. Thanks all.   Matt

Matt, I'm not familiar with the model, but some of the old carbs had a check ball in the accelerator well and they were held in by a small sheet metal retainer that pressed in over the top of them. They won't just fall out. The weight? is another question unless it's used in the choke mechanism or something.  :2cents:

are you sure its not the weight  which appears to be above the ball that you are looking at ?
as I said though I have never torn in to one so cant say that something was changed

Thanks for the help guys, I have two different manuals on this carb and when it comes to the check ball and weight they get a little vague. I read somewhere that some holleys had put in a needle valve instead of the ball?? I was very careful taking it apart and never saw it. Thanks,  Matt
