Demon Carb?
« on: November 03, 2012 - 08:15:24 PM »
Looking at a 750, can I only get electric chock with vacuum secondarys with the Demon carb? Will it do as well as a Holly double pumper?

I went from a 750 Holley to a 750 Demon.  Both double pumpers with electric choke. I hated it. The four corner idle mixture is a pain in the butt to adjust. Never could get it right. I gave up and went back to the Holley. The Demon did look better though.

If you have not bought the carb  then don't , just walk away . Some Demons are ok but if it is used & being sold there is a good reason why it is for sale , a lot of Demons live up to the name & need to excorsized.
A far better choice is a Proform carb , Mancini has a reasonable pricing on them .

Thanks! Can I get electric choke and manual secondaries? Do you prefer Proform over Holley?

Proform is better than most Holleys although the new HP line of Holleys & the new black series in on par but costs more . proform offers a street version with choke & a race version without , I find the choke is unnessisay in most cases as the cars are not generally winter driven

On my 440 (that I just replaced with a 451) I ran a 850 Demon. It was Ok . Then I bought a Q-850-AN  from quickfuel.... NO COMPARISON!

The quickfuel is the most responsive carb I've ever owned. The adjustablity options are REALLY nice! Quickfuel and proform are the same company FYI.

Here is a link to my experiances tuning it?

Thanks! Good info, very helpful. My 340 is alive after a long rebuild.
