Taillight Panel / Headlight Grill Panel
« on: May 12, 2011 - 02:42:57 PM »
I need some info from you guys. I have a 73 Challenger that I will be painting Sublime, and I'm considering painting the taillight panel and the headlight grill panel black. Could use some pics of other 73s with these areas blacked out. Do you guys use gloss black or flat black? Thanks!

Thanks Stefan. I was leaning more towards a semi-gloss than a full gloss, but didn't even think of a satin finish. That's probably the better way to go. Thanks!

:iagree:  Satin is correct for grille, spoiler and tail panel.
Call Eastwood for the paint kit for the spoiler to get the correct satin paint.

SEM Hot rod black is great to use. HR010, i think Roseville has a couple kits in their store. Alot of motor cycle guys use this on their tanks, gas and solvents dont discolor either.

Hot Rod Black Kit is a matte finish 2K single stage topcoat system that provides outstanding color retention, excellent sprayability and superior mar resistance to create the ultimate custom look when painting accent stripes, hoods or entire vehicles. Features - Durable 2K matte finish - Excellent resistance to chalking and fading - Smooth and uniform buff-free finish - 3.5 VOC compliant

I just redid the grill on my 73 over the weekend.  SEM Trim black matched the original color of the plastic perfectly.  I matched it against the plastic that was underneith the rubber bumper filler.  Don't forget to repaint the lip of the grill silver.
