Where to get the master cylinder push rod retainer?
« on: June 06, 2011 - 09:10:16 AM »
Subject says it all - can't find this locally.

The rubber retainer on my push rod is worn, it holds the rod in the master cylinder, but it doesn't take much force at all to pull it out.

Thanks in advance!

it is discontinued from the factory.  Replacement manual cylinders should come with it.

I think a search here will mention that some use a small piece of hose that will slip over the pushrod and fit the groove...then install as normal.

I was thinking of doing the same thing with a hose. I guess I'll try that this evening. Thanks!

I also found this morning that Mancini racing sells it for $4. If I had anything else to order I would consider that, but I don't need anything at this moment.

Just to complete this thread for anyone searching in the future - using some hose worked great. Don't know what size hose it was though, just went through my supply of hoses till I found one that looked about right.

Thanks for your help Strawdawg!

Buy a rebuilt one, keep the grommet and return the part to store. Lie to save money, that's why you can't buy one separate, so they save money. :stirpot:
