440 Engine - 1973 Stand Bore/Steel Crank/Machined - FIRST $500-LAST CALL

I have a fully machined 440 block/rods/pistons/steel crank - It is still standard bore (honed) I also have all new bearings for it still in the box, new rings, new oil pump assembly, new lifters, and a full new set of gaskets. I have the makings of a rebuilt short block. I have all the bolts and some other misc. parts as well.
I will ship it as long as the buyer pays for it. This came with a project car I bought recently and was all bagged and oiled & also has new freeze plugs already installed. I got a smokin deal on a complete running 440 so I don't need this any more. I was asking $850 for everything originally but now asking $650.

I know nobody is thrilled about trusting unknown machine shop work but at this price how can you go wrong. I'm sure I'll regret selling this soon enough but I just need to make some room & need some extra cash.

650.00 is a great deal if all machine work checks out, but that costs money too.  Still all and all a good deal.  Good luck with sale.

I was thinking about having it assembled & gone through but then I'd have to get alot more $ for it. A very well known local engine builder said he'd go through it and assemble it for me for about $350.  The guy that I bought the project from was very picky and did an incredible job of the car and I am very confident everything will be fine with the machine work. If anyone needs any more info let me know. I need to get this thing out of my way.

What do you mean by fully machined? You say it has a std bore. Did they grind the crank?
Deck the block, line hone the mains? Was the block magnafluxed? A good deal if all these things have been done.

I can't tell you for sure what was done that's why I'll selling it cheap. I did not have the work done. THe previous owner told me the cylinders were honed only (they are perfectly clean and oiled up), The pistons are the originals, the rods are original and are clean with no signs of any damage (chips, etc..), I was told the crank was ground & verified the new bearings are sized .020. I personally can't tell you if it was magnafluxed or not. The block looked to have been dipped/stripped down bare metal and now has a light coat of surface rust on the outside of it. There are letters painted on the side and new freeze plugs installed. I will post some pictures (although they came out horribly & mke it look rustier then it is) maybe the experts out there can make some guesses as to what was done. In the pics you can see the brand names I believe. I am very mechanical but typically don't mess with internals of an engine & am not even close to an engine builder. I am not trying to sell it for something it's not I'd rather scrap or collect dust in the corner then have someone be dissappointed with it. Take a look at the pictures and if you think it will work for you let me know. It obviously would be the best deal for a local guy that can come and inspect it & wouldn't have to pay for shipping

Looks like the motor probably spun a rod bearing. Big end of rods have been
reconditioned, and with the crank being ground .020 that makes sense. Looks
like  a decent stock rebuild motor. Decent brand parts too. 650.00 is  definitely a
good asking price. Gotta figure a used short block is worth at least 250-300 bucks
by itself. Add 250 dollars worth of prep work  and you for sure have more than 100 bucks
 worth of new parts there. Someone will definitely be getting a good deal on this.

Someone must be willing to pay $550 for it? Right? Let me know I will pack it & put it on a pallot and drop it off at a trucking depot for you free of charge. If you have a commercial address with a loading dock the shipping will be reasonable.
