Tail lights

Having trouble with my tail lights 70 Cuda. When I put my turn signal on taillights go out. it doesn’t affect turn signal and brake lights . I was told it could be turn signal switch. How dose it affect the tail lights.

more likely to be a ground problem , make sure the housings arte grounded even if you have to connect a wire to ground , when the housings have no ground it will go to ground throught the tailights or side light circuit

It could be your turn signal switch. Both the tail lights and turn signals share the same filament in the bulbs. I was surprised when I replaced my turn signal switch how dry and crusty it was.
