help with pulleys
« on: July 01, 2011 - 03:02:32 PM »
The previous owner had a rigged set up, using stacks of washers to offset the water pump pulley and some other bad ideas.

I have bought a new waterpump and pulley but it seems that the powersteering belt will rub on the pulley.

Can anyone tell from these photos if the crank pulley is wrong or if I have something out of wack?

Thank you and have a happy 4th! :wavingflag:

Well I would guess you installed all the boltsm belts, and tightened it all up?  The aftermarket wp pulley is coned some. The originals are just about straight.

Thanks Moparal

The belt crashes no matter how tight. I think I just need a crank pulley that is smaller. This one is 7 1/5" diameter. I have seen them as small as 5"

I've gone though some issues with this myself. I did get correct pulleys from Buchillion. BUT when she get a mouthfull there are times the belt still hits the pulley. I dont know (what motor your running) but I've looked at stock HEMIS and they all seem to have a belt rub mark on them. Maybe ditching the billet would help some though.  :dunno:

Thanks BIGSHCLUNK

I am going to order a crank pulley with a smaller diameter. I normally wouldn't do bullet but the car is not numbers matching nor a real R/T

Thought you guys would get a laugh out of this rigging

Waterpump impeller fell off

strange huge pulley that was put on with a stack of RTVed washers holes had been opened up to make fit

Fanclutch says made in china. I hate that there are parts from china on my car. Nothing against china, just not on my American Iron!

I wish people didn't do this kind of stuff

I'd watch that crank pulley thing. It may not be small enough to make a diifference. As for that water pump POS YIKES! Hope you get it worked out.

With all the repro pulleys out there, I'm wondering why you went with the aluminum one?

Looks like the PS Pump/brackets look to be from another engine/car and retro'd to fit and then had the pulleys retro'd to fit your engine with that PS pump...Most of the NON A/C engines I've seen run the PS pump alot lower than yours. As for the "Made in China" thing, Good luck as with most anything today,  I hope you aren't building a stroker any time soon using Eagle parts, as you are sure to be dissapointed in where they are manufactured...
Most USA parts, especially stroker cranks, are in the $3K range.

Just a follow up on the pulleys. The smaller crank pulley fits great and everything is working really well together.
