What is the best manufacturer to purchase from?  I want to get a set that has the best "leak down" traits available.
Lunati makes a good hydraulic lifter, and good cams for that matter.  If changing cams look on this forum and/ or call Lunati tech phone number.  BE careful and don't go big on cam choice or it wont be fun to drive on the street.  Chryco knows of good adjustable rocker arms/shaft kit, do a search on this forum and I'm sure his recommendation will show up.   IMO I would not go with aluminum rocker arms for street use.

all parts are stock.
engine was rebuilt nearly 7 years ago - don't know any specifics.

What I really want is a complete set of new factory type rocker arms and shafts for both side, and a good set of hydraulic lifters.

Nothing fancy - this is just a plain old stock 440 6pack.  It is not getting raced etc....

Maybe they are not the cool face, but they have the oiling slot on the face, they are polished, and they are hydraulic lifters by Crower, pretty decent.  Call them.

Sure sounds like you're losing oil pressure and/or oil to the top end.
You might try taking off one of the valve covers and run it up and see if you have oil.
You sure will know if you do, cause it will be messy.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

the first  thing on my list is to remove all the rocker gear and push rods - inspect all of it and look for cracks, clogs and adverse wear.

Then start replacing parts that need replacing.

I am really hoping it is a stuck lifter or a wore out rocker arm.
Hope like all hell it is not a bad cam lobe from a incorrect breakin period when it was rebuilt years ago (i did not do it, previous owner).

i'll keep everyone informed as this progrsses.

Two questions:
1. Are you running headers? Loose headers sound a lot like valve train noise.
2. More of a thought...get an extra valve cover and cut the top off. Put that on when you run the motor and it'll cut down on having oil everywhere.

thanks for the info on PRW...

If I go that route, do you have a process I can use to set the rockers correctly?
I know how to set the preload on the lifters on a BB chev, but never went the adjustable rocker/hydraulic lifters on a MOPAR before.

Thanks in advance -
Bill

PS --   if anyone has a comlete set that is in VG shapre and wants to sell it, please let me know....

there is always the chance the rocker shaft was installed upside down with the oil holes up
basically the same process , you need to rotate the engine so each cylinder is on firing stoke /TDC & set the lifters with approx 3/4 - 1 turn of peload

The plot thickens.........

So I figured it be a good time to take a crack at investigating the rocker gear..

I take a valve cover off and I find Chysler adjustable rocker gear on the car.

So what do I do now????
How can I tell if I have a soild cam in the car?

I want to put a set of new lifters in while I am doing all thus - just to be sure.

any help - as always - is greatly appreciated!!

Im telling ya - its always some kinda crud....   LOL

look down around the pushrod with a flashlight and see if the lifters have a snap ring around the top to hold the plunger in the lifter as hydraulic lifters do

Also, if the car has solid lifters, it will have some clearance between the rocker arm and valve stem when the valves for a given cylinder are closed...say  0.015"-0.025" depending on what cam is installed....I would not change lifters without a reason

OK so you have adjustable rocker arms so the cam could be hyd or solid
if you have a powerful telescoping magnet , you can back off the adjuster ,pull the pushrod & remove a lifter right through the head , Mopar solid lifters also have a snap ring at the top so you could be fooled just looking down there .
I agree no reason the change lifters unless one or more is definatly collapsed or worn , if it is worn I would chane the cam at the same time though .
typical solid cam lash can be .015 up to .032 for mopar cams
