Non-Chromed Bumpers
« on: July 04, 2011 - 02:51:37 AM »
Does anyone sell bumpers that haven't been chromed? Going to need to replace my bumpers and I'm thinking of having them powder coated instead of chromed. I'm thinking either a matching black or black chrome would be pretty sweet. I've found fiberglass, but I'd prefer metal.

Corey

BTW, these would be 70 style going on a 74 Challenger.

You could use the fiberglass repros of the rubber bumper over the stock reinforcement that the '74 have.  Then just move the holes on the  brackets and slide the whole thing back for a stock '70 look with the extra strength of the '74.

I called AMD a while back and they will not sell them non-chromed. I'm at the same point. I would like to weld up the holes, use hidden hardware and paint.
To bad we aren't Camaro guys---you can buy smooth bumpers both with chrome or bare and also in aluminum.

There are also the rubber bumpers by Gene Gregory.... IIRC.

I wouldn't be a camero guy, for all the parts in the world  :poopoke: I might own one some day, but I'll never be a camero "guy"

Yeah I tried contacting a couple places that sell bumpers, but they said all's they could get were chrome. I've got a guy who can sand blast off the chrome, but it seems silly that I couldn't just buy some that haven't been chromed yet.
