weak turn signals and brake lights....

I have very weak turn signal and brake lights on my 71 barracuda. I have a new wiring harness and have ran a ground wire for each bulb socket. I pulled the bulb out and found that if I turn the bulb and put in in the opposite slots it is brighter than in the correct slot. Of coarse the bulb will not stay due to different bulb pin height...Does anyone have any answers for this?? I need to fix this before Saturday....Cruise night!!!!

Another member described a similar problem, he also said the tail lights were very hot. It turned out he had reversed the wires to the sockets so that the higher watt brake filament was on for tail lights & the lower watt filament was powered by the brake light. He was apparently able to change the wiring easily.

That did cross my mind...thought maybe the wires got put in the opposite place...The bulbs are warm but not hot.

I just went and mess with it some more...I also found that with my lights on my turn signals do not work. Turn lights off and they work fine...

your grounds are not good enough , it is grounding back through the park light circuit

Took my time and cleaned up some metal for a good ground. The lights seem to be working a lot better now!!!!!!!!    Thanks for the tip
