18" coverted to 20" wheels

I have been keeping my eyes open for a good deal on a leftover 2010 R/T.  There is a decent one near by, but it has 18" wheels and I like the look of 20's better.  Would I have to change out any sensors or electronics with the wheel swap or is there anything major to do?  The tire height of the 18's is approx 28.2" tall vs. the 28.7" tall of the 20's.  Does it matter that much?

I think most tire places sell the tire pressure sensors for like $20 or $25 a piece.

that is right at the dealer about 48 each that is all you have to do

Guys, I don't think he is talking about the air pressure sensors. He wants to know if the diameter difference in tire size will mess with his speedo.

If its to far off you my need to get a Predator to correct the speedo. The extra HP it gives you is just a plus!

Yes, MEK has is right.  I was more concerned with the spedo and whether or not it would throw anything else off.  I hadn't even thought about the tire pressure sensors though.  Thanks for the input guys!

Ask the dealer to swap 20's from another car to the one your interested in, happens all the time.

Changed my truck tires to larger ones and at the dealer they just plugged info into computer and I was on my way ( chevy truck)

i just sold mine 20s to a guy with a charger with 16s and it was just fine

I'm a little new at this (just got my SRT8 Challenger) but I was reading up on a spare tire, and there was concern that if the tire diameter is off by more than 5% it might put the computer in a "limp back home" mode. I'm not sure if it happens when 1 wheel is off by 5% to the other three or if it's off compared to what the computer was programmed for. I think I read someone saying to move the spare to the front, which would mean as long as the rear two wheels match the computer, you are fine.

The tire sizes mentioned were within 5% or original so I think the OP is fine.

i would think an srt 8 would have 20s on it,and i sold my spare to a guy with an srt8 and he said the srt8s dont have a spare?his was an o8 iv seen challengers with 22s 24s with no problem mine are not stock at all .iv got 20x11 and 20x9.5 ccw with nitto 555r drag tires and i have no problems

Would think that it does not make any difference at all as long as the outside diameter is the same.

I'm not sure of the total diameter, but it will be pretty close - usually bigger rims get tires with smaller sidewalls, so it usually balances out.

If it's off however, the service department can recalibrate the speedometer using a Chrysler service scan tool.

And I agree you can try asking them to swap out the 20's with another car, or they can just order a set of 20's.  You'll pay for them of course, but they'll usually cut you a deal pretty close to invoice.
