What to use to clean up dash wiring

Any ideas of what to use to clean up the dash wiring harness with?  I have a couple corroded spots on the wiring also that need to be repaired. Their just spots and not corroded through. How would you fix these?

You might try something like WD40 on a shop rag and wipe it down/off.  If any parts need retaping, you can use the tape sold for harnesses rather than electrical tape.

Or, Armorall cleaner, or such

I've used soap/water with good results.  The more stuborn spots I cleaned up with WD-40 and/or mineral spirits.  Corroded connectors can be soaked in vinegar.  Once they are free from corrosion, you can buff them with 0000 steel wool.  Use compressed air to dry.

Believe it or not, you can use molases to clean parts.  A buddy of mine soaked rusty and greasy parts in molases diluted with water (10:1 ratio) and they came out great.  The parts that he showed me was a steel turnsignal bucket with pigtail and a hood latch off a Chevelle.  All the rust and corrosion was gone after soaking for about 2 weeks.  He said he used industrial molases - not what you'd put on your pancakes.  The connections and wires on the pigtail looked brand new too.  After he pulled them out of the molases, all he did was hose them off with water and then he was going to dip the metal parts in a chemical (can't remember what) to prevent the rust from returning.  One draw back is that it stinks to high hell!!!  Not something you want to do IN the house!!!

I put mine in the dishwasher. Got the idea from a friend who works on old cars. It worked really good!!
