New guy from NY..
« on: August 04, 2011 - 12:50:02 AM »
but not too new.. I've surfed here from time to time in the past just never joined on.

back in '97 I bought a '70 Barracuda "parts car". Ended up turning that into a tubbed, caged,BDS blown 440. Had a blast with that car and felt real bad to have to sell it when I did in '04..

NOW, I just purchased another '70 Barracuda that is need of major work. I'm not afraid, as I've been there done that. I'll probably start working on it next winter {'12}. Gonna haveta gather some parts 1st.. Sooo, I'll be here quite often...

old one..from this..

to this..

Collected parts for the 1st 2ish years and completed the build in an additional 3.. I have a roughly 300 pics from beginning to end of the whole build..

I'm hoping this next one won't take nearly as long.. I have pics on the other computer. I'll get them up tomorrow.. Not positive of the direction but I'm leaning towards some sort of efi set up. I have a 383 bare block and a relatively complete stock 400.. Don't know if I want to go bb or sb..

at the strip it was pretty unimpressive. My best was a 12.99 at 99mph, spinning 60' out. I had a GM engine builder do the work and order the parts and had nothing but problems with it. I had it apart 3 times over 2 summers and 700 miles. I did better with my 440 Dakota{11.72 at 115} I sold the car as a roller. Traded the blower for alum heads, intake, custom ground cam{UNLAWFL} etc etc.. Had a blast with the car and missed it bad enough to buy another one..lol

the above pic is right after loading it up. I got it south of Medina,Ohio.."Supposedly" its a GA car. With all the rust,I kinda doubt that. 1/4's, floors, trunk pan, left rear frame rail, fender aprons,1 rocker all need replacing or patch panels. All in all, like I said, it is complete. all the small parts are present ie; dash panels, lenses, wiring,ps, door panels,seats,etc..the front signals {although broken},head lights, tail lights and even the marker lights all work..

here it is after getting home. I had to put some real wheels and tires on it..lol

rear end..the rear valance is in ok condition, Both bumpers and all brackets are present, the front valance and insert are shot. I have a '68 B-body 8 3/4 with 4.10's and a Sure Grip that I had in my Dakota that will fit nicely.

I have my work cut out for me. It'll be a looong  year and half of parts gathering, etc til I get started on it. I have another project that I need to finish for my wife 1st. {you can kinda make it out in the garage} Then its all Barracuda after that..

Looks like Burnt Orange Paint and a Good start are you going to make another drag set-up , a clone, or a pro-street beast?

thinking about a street menace thats a nice driver. Thats one of the reasons why I'm considering efi. I have a few ideas I'm kickin around. I'm done racing {I keep telling myself}. When I had the other Cuda, my wife had a '69 Cougar with a 351W that we mildly built for her. I am planning on something in between her Cougar and the Dakota I had {rolled it over and parted it out}. Subframe connectors, possible mini tub, CalTracs, front disc brakes, ps, possibly a/c..
