Best ( meanest ) Sounding Muffler for a 383
« on: August 22, 2011 - 08:13:44 PM »
What are some recommendations for a mean sounding muffler for a 383?  my old 71 Charger had a 360 with cherry bomb glasspack and it sounded unreal :smokin:  i am wondering if it should go the same way with my 383 Cuda?  its cheap, inexpensive and sounds great.  any thoughts?
tnx guys

Dyno-max Ultra-flo race mufflers...not cheap but they have a nice loud growl to them.

Really hard to beat the 'ol Flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber sound IMO. But alas, I too am looking for a little "Different" sound. Leaning towards the Dynomax race mufflers. Don't really like the "Innertube flappin' in the wind" sound of the glasspacks. Might use 'em as resonators though. Can usually find 'Flowmasters in pairs at swap meets for around $25.00/each..

I've gotten many compliments on my Flowmaster Super 40's, and it's just an annoyed 318.

i had the most compliments with how my car sounded with a pair of cheap no-named brand of
California turbos. i wish i could get a pair of them today. they were quiet enough to have a
conversation at 70, but when you stepped on it, it let you know what was under the hood
i did 12.20 @ 114 through these mufflers.  :bananasmi

right now i have a pair of cheap flow master copy Thrush mufflers. they are ok, not crazy about the sound
but they are pretty good cause they were CHEAP. i'm looking for something different too. thanks
for the input guys.
