1973 Challenger Interior Dome Light assembly
« on: September 05, 2011 - 12:34:34 AM »
Hello all,
Does anyone have a picture of how the interior dome light assy is installed? My car was missing the dome light assy when I bought it and the headliner was falling down. There are four holes in the center brace that it attaches to somehow. I'm not sure which holes to attach it to or which direction the wire is supposed go, towards the back of the car or the front. Also, once it is installed  and you clip the wires on the tabs where do you run the wire once you get to the edge of the roof? I'm going to install my headliner this week and just need some help with this. Any help would be appreciated.

I know that in a Cuda it goes to the driverside rear of the back side window then into the harness.

The dome light housing should use the front two attaching slotts.  Look at the slotts and you should be able to see that two of them have had screws in them and the other two havn't.   The wiring harness plugs into the housing from the front side.  The factory headliner in my car had a "T" cut into it for the dome light.  About a 2" slit side to side right below the attaching screws......then a 1 1/2" cut twards the front to clear the light socket.

Once the harness gets to the edge of the roof, run it into the large opening in the brace.  You can see where it exits the brace in this picture.  I've seen picture where the harness is held inplace by the top metal strap on the inner wheelwell but on my car the wiring harness was too tight.  I ended up not running it through the top strap.
