terry,maybe you can point me in the right direction.I'M working on my dailey driver,1999 mercury cougar 2.0 four banger with a a/t.tranyy went out and doing this job in my garage with no lift.i know i have to pull the trans with the subframe while supporting the eng from above.any tricks to doing this with no floor hoist.how many jack stands,floor jack's etc will i need????i have the rubber plug/flywheel cvr off and I see abolt from the back side of the flywheel with a nut facing me through the hole.how the heck are you suppose to get a wrench on the back side of the flywheel
do i have to pull off the eng oil pan case to block asmbly to get at those bolts from the back side.any tricks on this job you know of would greatly be appreciated.i'm almost ready to call it quits and scrap this car.

in a shop i know of they have a bar that goes accrost the top of rthe engine to hold it in place .

I have never removed the trans on a '99 Cougar.Some times I have to get creative on the engine support for some of these new Fords. It should have a CD4E trans in it. VERY expensive to fix. They have an input drum that is bad for cracking and most of the new drums are on national back order.
