Speedo gear install help
« on: April 20, 2002 - 05:52:02 PM »
I finally received my speedo gear today. I was reading up on the install and I am confused on the following:

It says that I have to install the adapter in the same position as I took it out. Don't I have to line up the correct range on the adapter in the six o'clock position?
My new gear has 36 teeth, so I would line it up between the 32-38 range. Is this right?

Thanks.

Thanks Chryco
I finished the install this morning and everything is great. Now I know how fast I am going ;D

You have been a great help with this and with the prop valve.
It is good to have knowledgable people like yourself around when you need them. I will probably be asking more questions later when I can fork out more money to buy more parts.

Thanks again. :D

Joe, if you want to check to see if your speedometer is right on, find a stretch of hiway that is flat and straight. Hold your speed dead on at 60 MPH and time it between mile markers. If it takes 60 seconds, you're right on! If it takes less time, then you are running faster than what the speedometer shows, and if it takes longer, then you are running slower than what your speedometer shows. If the time is not off any more than 5 seconds from 60 seconds (55 thru 59 or 61 thru 65 secs.) then you can figure about one mile per hour per second.

Thanks for the tip. The only markers that they have here in Canuck country are the KM markers. My speedo is in MPH. I guess I can mark out a mile area and try it that way.

392Heminut, if I remember correctly for previous posts, you're one of our "men in blue" on this forum.  Congratulations on the retirement!

Thanks Joe & Rev-It-Up, it feels pretty good to be able to get a retirement check at 47 years old, but I'm gonna have to get another job to pay for all this beer and Bratwurst! The wife is inviting everyone & their brother! :o Actually, I have to get another job to support my habit, MOPARS! I've got a 68 Coronet drag car to build and a 76 Duster for the 9 yr. old son. ;D

Okay Heminut!,

Howjaduit?

Howcome u can retire @ 47?

I'm 42 going on 43 and am just getting up to 1/2 of what I was making at age 25, before I got laid off from an Oil Co. job. Now a freaking Labourer...again. Been here and done that already. And slowly working my way up in wages. Maybe you just didn't get hit with a layoff or economic cuts?  ???

I'll still get some Company pension, on top of the measley Government Pension Plan, but here in Canada, we get penalized if we claim that before age 65 or 67! They keep changing the rules!  >:(

WedgeHead, we have a good retirement program through the state. They take 17.5% off the top of every paycheck, and police officers can retire at 22 yrs. 11 mos. at 80% of their pay! Same thing for firefighters, but other gov. employees have to go 25 yrs. before they can retire, and takes something like 27.5 yrs to max out at 80%. It's a pretty sweet deal, once we have our time in we can start drawing the retirement, no age restrictions.
