Leaky Main Seal Leak on Stroker Motor
« on: October 08, 2011 - 06:22:39 PM »
So, the crank in my 440-6 that was stroked to 500 CI is habitually leaking.  It seems like the crank that has been a pain since day one, is eating away at several main seals.  Any quick fixes short of pulling everything apart and putting in an asbestos main seal?

sounds like the seal surface on the crank in not smooth , I guess you have swapped the seal a least twice so far , the seal retainer could be milled down a few thou to tighten the clearance for the seal & inspect the crank surface while in there or the seal plate could be replaced with the new billet type . I assume the seal lip is pointed inward to wards the oil

Are you sure it is the seal ? My gasket set came with pipe cleaners and a tube of form a gasket crap for the seal cap . Changed it to a carboard gasket and leak was gone .
