70 AAR Cuda Project
« on: September 10, 2011 - 09:56:27 PM »
Just purchased 70 AAR Cuda project last weekend.  The car is a lifelong Minnesota car from the St. Cloud area.  The original owner ordered the car and owned it until 1975 when our friend Rick purchased the car.  When Rick purchased the car the motor in it was "new" and the was running with a four barrel.  Rick did not get the six pack or air cleaner but did get the original rubber bumper (original owner changed to chrome bumper and added funkadelic green carpet).

Pulled rear seat and saw mouse nests but build sheet was in the upper section of the backseat and was untouched by mice.  Car has fender tag, buildsheet, original spare, jack, gas cap.  Frame is good but car has rust in the rear - will need quarters, trunk extensions, outer wheelhouses, and trunk along with misc. other rust repair.  Since the car arrived, replaced the Keystone wheels & G60-14 tires with correct wheels.  My neighbor rebuilt the 4 barrel and the car now runs pretty good.  Brakes need to be blead and rear brakes seem to be sticking.

More about the car:  bench seat, column shift, ralley gauges, 3 speaker dash with am radio & eight track.  Front rubber bumper car.  Here are some pictures:

Very nice score!! Looks like it will be a very decent project. Keep us posted. Nice color. I had a '73 Barracuda that color. I used to hate the color, but it grows on you. Thanks for sharing!  :2thumbs:

WOW! great car.  Looking forward to more photos.   :woohoo:
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Nice find.

What is the electronic box in the engine compartment on the fenderwell behind the battery in your second picture?

Nice find.

The electronic box is a cruise control unit - Rick said it's been on the car since he got the car in 1975.

Here are the fender tag codes:

Y05  26  EN1
N44  N85  N94  R22  V6H
G36  J45  J82  L31  M21  M88
FJ5  A01  A21  A53  A62  B51
FJ5  H4X9  000  402
E55 D32  BS23  JOB  292xxx

The car is a big project so I'd like to get it road worthy so I can drive it a little before taking it apart over the next couple of years.  Rick kept a mileage log and left it with the car - he retired it from daily use in October of 1985 and has only added 173 miles since then.
