Moving to the UK
« on: September 05, 2011 - 11:34:24 AM »
It looks more like our return to the UK is immanent making probably north east as a start base.
In the states the economy is very bad, and I will be bringing the 72 Challenger back with me, as it not quite finished yet.
My questions are fired at our colonial friends in the UK.
How difficult are spares to get delivered over there like, Legendary, Summit, Year One etc. are there any meets in the North East,
any Mopar forums. Any input would be grateful.
Cheers,

Not trying to pump another site but this site is based in the U.K.,

http://challenger.mpoli.fi/board/

also this one

http://www.moparuk.com/

I just got back from the U.K. from the Euro nats,

and yes parts will be more expensive, and hard to come by ,however there is a great following and you might have trouble finding certain parts, but shipping, tax ,customs fees etc........ will be pricey

What part of the  North east U.K are you going to? I do know a mate in Newcastle,he no longer owns a chally but he runs the  http://challenger.mpoli.fi/board/  board,He is an expert  IMO,LOTS OF KNOWLEDGE and he pops on here from time to time I highly suggest you join his board and get to know some folks over there they can help alot.........

Hi, I am in the UK and owned Mopars since the mid 70's. Sourcing the parts from the US is not a problem, and more often than not, the exchange rate is favorable to the UK. However, the killer is the shipping and the duties and taxes you have to pay. As an example, I just costed shipping over a transmission from Summit for a F**d. Item is $768 and shipping is $500 (DHL). By the time it gets here with the taxes and duty are added, the shipping and taxes will be more than the Trans. The UK Customs include the shipping cost in the tax total. There are many companies here who specialise in parts for US cars, but as a rule I haven't found them to be cheaper... Autogauge tach the equivalent of $200, I found the same tach on US E-Bay for $80, even with shipping and duty it was a lot less. Incidently, you need to pay to post on the UK Mopar site, but there are many Mopar owners in the north of England, so you won't be lonely as long as you like Drag racing.

I myself am originally from the UK.  :england: I could NEVER ever go back to live, personally, and got married this year to an American. Fortunately in my industry- automotive engineering- there are more jobs than ever for experienced folks and they actually pay too  :woohoo: (unlike the UK)

Good luck! That car will certainly cause a stir in the UK whereever it goes!  :picture: :droolingbounce:

Well, I live in Norway, and I get everything from Summit, YearOne, Mancini, eBay. No problem, but shipping will be more expencive.
