Lost reverse in my tranny.

  Took the cuda to a car show this last weekend.  As I pulled into my parking spot I was a bit to far forward so I put it in reverse to back up just a bit.  There was a small thud and then no reverse. ( Have a 340/AT)The car will just rev up when I try to back up.  I still have all three forward gears ----but it just free revs in reverse.  About twenty years ago this happened and I had blown out the reverse servo ??  There was an arm and spring hanging down into the pan if I remember right. When this happened last time the car got parked in the garage for 21 years.  When the trans was rebuilt I had a high stall speed converter, full manual shift kit , and beefier internals put in.  I have not pulled the pan off yet so I was just wondering if this is the same thing that happened as before---can that be fixed without pulling the tranny. I can still drive it to a shop if I have to. If not, I will pull it out and take it in somewhere to save a few bucks that way. And it sure as hell ain't gonna get parked for very long this time----but it looks like my fall cruising may have come to an end.

Probably broke the band and that is not fixable in the car. Drop the pan and have a look,might be the servo thing again and if the band isn't burnt, that can be fixed in the car.
