Ok, for most of this year I've been building a 360.
I finally got to putting it together and noticed that my pistons were designed for Magnum rods and the rods I got were for LA pistons.
Of course I found this out after having the whole assembly balanced.
So I ended up machining the small end of the rods a little bit to get the clearance required (.030" on one side only) which translated to about 1.5g per rod.
I asked an engine builder and he said he would re-balance the assembly, but I kind of expected that answer because he does great work and has superior attention to detail. (if only I could afford him!)
But I'm in the real world, don't really have the $$$ to spend on a rebalance, but I guess I would if I had to. *sigh*
So soliciting second opinions on what would YOU do?
