Rear Frame Rail Repair Question

He was asking $15,000 for the car but openly said a few times that he is willing to negotiate.  Given that if the car didn't need more than just rails replaced I was thinking I might be able to get it for the right price but given the risk I would be taking I'm not going to bother trying to negotiate with the guy.

That's the smartest thing you'll do all year. It's major surgery to change those frame rails and you can believe, just like you've been told, that that would not be the end of it. Like Brad said, if you got it for a couple grand, then you could justify it, but not at $15k up front and another 15 before you were done. Look for a southern car and look closely even at them!
