Moog Ball joints

I was looking at moog upper ball joints at Rock Auto and see they have 'regular' ball joints for the Challenger, and 'problem solver' ball joints. The problem solver ball joints are almost twice the price. My question is this, what problem are they trying to solve? I know of the offset UCA bushings, but what is the difference in the ball joint?

It is their premium line of ball joints...advertised to eliminate the need to reduce the steering knuckle on certain cars and to last longer on others as I understand.

Some cars came from the factory with ball joints designed to be replaced as part of an entire assembly rather than individually.  For some of these, Moog came up with a unit replacement that retains the old knuckle or control arm thus saving some money

I think the problem solver upper ball joints are for when the threads on the control arm are damaged.  The problem solvers must be slightly oversize with an aggressive thread.

Check amazon for moog parts with the part number. I saved about $70 when I did that over the local parts store/rock auto about two years ago.

after some Googling, I have come to the conclusion that Moog has basically named its premium line Problem Saver.  Some are unique and made to fit certain Caddy or lincoln applications and others are just beefed up.

In general, Moog's replutation seems to have been hit over the past couple of years

I used Howe upper ball joints in my c-body spindle/front end project. The difference in movement is night and day. It's like ball bearings compared to a friction movement. They are 2-3X the price though and only the uppers are available for our E-Bodies. They are rebuildable too!
