Mud flaps
« on: January 11, 2012 - 12:44:31 PM »
My Gran Coupe has Mud Flaps in the front wheel wells that say Plymouth in silver paint at the bottom of the flap. My ? is were they origional to the car or did someone buy a set at shucks in the 80's and screw em on?

They were most likely a dealer add-on.  My dad put mud flaps on the Challenger after he bought it.  They were smaller flaps that had a chrome strip on the bottom.  They accually looked good...unlilke most mud flaps.

A few times, I've seen where people attach mud flaps with those black springy clamps you hold papers together with.  You can easily take them off at shows and put them back on before you leave.  I even saw someone that made mud flaps out of clear plexiglass and held them on with those spring clamps.

I kinda like em!! They keep the rocks onto people driving behind me's windshields and not on my panels  The PLYMOUTH logo faces rearward and  is the Known Plymouth font. I will be hunting for the other 2 missing from the rear.

Very cool.

It looks like Chrysler definitely sold these at dealerships back in the day.

Check these out...

That font is great! :-)

I would search for "splash guards" as that's what they called them. Probably save you from looking at a ton of Yosemite Sam "Back off!" mud flaps in your searches. ;-)

Good luck finding them!
