Wiring radio to light up with parking lights
« on: October 30, 2011 - 09:26:03 AM »
Dash is apart or I would simply switch on the parking lights and test for current... but I can't so I'll just ask. :-)

Want my radio to light up with parking lights. At some point, the radio harness was cut, but I know the orange lead is for the light. I'm seeing what I think is the old radio power harness under the dash. Female spade connectors with wires: black - red - orange - orange.

I'm hoping that simply plugging the orange lead from the radio into the orange connector on this harness will do the trick. Orange wires under the dash are always for parking light circuit, no? That's what it looks like all dash lights are...

Thanks!

It'll work.  The power and light came through that plug.  Ground was through the housing and antenna plug.  The other connector was for speakers.

It worked, by the way.

I now have a greenish-blue lit up radio. :-)

Nice to have a light on the radio at night.   Do you have the glove box, ashtray and ign switch lights too?

No. I was actually thinking about getting the parts together to do the... A01 (?) light package.

What the hell did people do when they needed to find something in the glove box at night? lol
