Correct for 73: Locking or non-locking console door latch?
« on: October 25, 2011 - 02:35:54 PM »
My 73s original console was long gone before I got her. The one I got and refinished has the locking latch, but I've also seen non-locking latches for these.

Which is correct for a 73 Challenger? Or was it part of an option package or something?

Thanks.

My 73 had a lock, the 73 parts car I just got is non locking so i guess it was a option.

Lol. So far two with and two without. :-)

Sounds like it can go either way...

Unless there's a build sheet / option code that specifies one or the other, I guess I'll just keep my keyed button. I removed the lock mechanism so it functions like the non-key version. (I got locked out one time, so I gutted it :-)

70's and 71's definitely had the lock. I didn't know about the no lock thing later on. I'm always learning too.

My '73 has a lock, but it doesn't work.  Maybe that was another option  :)

My 73 Barracuda has a locking console button, almost positive it came that way as the original owner hardly changed anything.
