Clear over Hemi Billboards?
« on: November 14, 2011 - 05:48:55 PM »
I think I know the answer but have to ask. Does putting clear over the Hemi Billboards ruin the stock orginal look of the Flat Black billboards?

And to go along with this where do you recomend to get the best quality aftermarket billboards from, something that will last and look the correct shean...

Clear over any flat surface will turn it in to a shine, only way around it is to use a flattening base in the clear, but then the paint of your car will be flat with no shine also. Try find someone who uses 3M for a set of decals, that is my suggestion. :2thumbs:

Got mine from Phoenix Graphics.

If you would want to clear coat them why not just paint them on?

Thats just it I don't want them to have a shinny clear coat on them. Just be nice to have the protection and easier to keep looking nice I would think. I will be sticking them over the top just like the factory

I don't think it would be a good idea to put clear over a sticker. It'll have a different expansion rate in hot sun than the rest of the metal/paint. Could begin cracking.

I wouldnt do it, unless you like the shiny look

Also, if you do clear over them with flattener, or with regular clear, you wont have the option to peel them off later, if for some reason you wanted a new look with no bill boards

Totally agree, clearcoating over large vinyl graphics is asking for problems.

OP, you know that you can have clear vinyl with different stages of sheen applied over your billboards, most sign shops can take care of that.
