Best dash pad?
« on: October 18, 2011 - 08:48:37 PM »
Ok, I am sure this topic has been beat to death but I only want to do this once.   Who sells the best dash pad?

I had read mixed reviews about Just Dashes and Dashboard Restorations.  I also don't like the idea of sending off my dash and not getting it back for 6-8 weeks while they recover it.   They both charge around the thousand dollar mark.

Dante's has them for $650 plus a $195 core charge.

Year One sells them for $900 and they have a plastic core.

Classic Industries has them for around $500.

The prices are all over the place.

I would prefer a metal core and money is a factor but I would rather save up and buy a good one then buy a bad quality one now.

What are your thoughts

Check with Dave on this site with Roseville (www.rosevilleparts.com) as he can usually put something together for you.  The two main dash suppliers are Ultimate Rides and Just Dashes.  By all means, stay away from the plastic core jobs.

Do you have a core of your own to swap out?  That's a 200.00 question.

This sounds just like the ones Dante's sells with a metal frame and they are within ten dollars of each other.  All things being equal, I would go with Dante's.

Anyone buy one from either?

Classic Industries has the cheapest price wise.  Anyone get one of those?

I bought one from Ultimate Rides and am very pleased with it. They remould it on a OE metal core, it looks as good as a original.

which pad are you looking for and do you have a core. what color I do have a couple 71-4 pads on the shelf.

Do yourself a favour and buy it from Dave at Roseville! He looks them over before he ships them to you to double check they are good! DO NOT get one with a plastic core, they warp in the sun. ( so I have been told on here) I got mine from Dave and am very happy with it!
Hope that helps!

I just got one from Superior Dashpads in Ohio for my 70, single speaker with AC, very nice and fits great. I paid $855 to my door and then get $195 refund when I send in my core.

I wonder who Originally made the dash pads for chrysler. I am betting that they could easily make them again if they still have the blue prints.
