Back in Iowa for Thanksgiving I decided to ask around some of my pop's fellow car guys if they knew where any mopars were and one of them took me up to a friend's house tonight who was "into mopars." We got there and he opened the garage and right there sat a 1971 V-code cuda promotional vehicle. Apparently they made only 13 of these and put them in dealerships for the salesman to drive. They were apparently highly optioned cars. This one was painted black but was originally curious yellow, had billboards, original N96 shaker on the fender tag, deck louvers, a go-wing, and was an automatic. He said Galen's on his way in a month to come and document it. Unfortunately he didn't have the numbers engine, but showed me the date coded 440 he bought to replace the 400 stroker in it upon restoration. The car had 80K miles on it and had original interior.
The car next to the v-code was a 70 Grand coupe painted yellow in a kinda reverse V21-ish way and had an in my opinion ugly stripe on the side that doesn't belong on a 70.
Next to that was another car I was stunned by, a B5 blue 70 T/A challenger with blue interior and a numbers engine, completely unmolested with original paint and interior. Downstairs getting painted was another v-code car, this time a 1970 cuda numbers matching. In the next room was a 71 coronet 500 freshly painted with 10" custom made magnums on it. In his garage connected to his house was a 71 challenger convertible with a 340 and a white top/white interior. I was in drool city, and snapped a few pics that i've included below. I told him i'm looking for a car and he told me he'd keep an eye out for me if anything comes along that's in my ballpark.
Thought you guys might like this story so I thought i'd throw it up here. Sure was amazing to see his garage. Oh, and I forgot to mention, he also showed me a freshly rebuilt 426 hemi with a 6-pack on it (yes, a 6 pack. Demon carbs and an intake you can change the base plates on).
