I just bought some bits and pieces from USA over the internet around US$210 with my Citibank CC, they charged me a fee of $6.80.
I know that your amount is greater but I am about to do an order for several thousand $$ the same way and only expect to pay a minor fee in proportion to the amount.

I sent Slotts  a western union payment for a part he picked up for me. I sent him $640 US funds...it cost me $739 Canadian funds! That when the exchange rates is pretty close to par! :stomp: The western union teller said the fee's go up with the more money you send so no way I would use them unless I was in a pinch. I had US funds in hand but the don't accept US funds ..only Canadian ( so they can screw ya on exchange rates!)

Have you tried just a US$ money order from your bank or credit union? Same fee regardless of amount. My Credit Union charges 0$, my bank charges $10. Then mail it. It takes a few days in the mail is the only downside I see.

No haven't tried that. I bought our family Suburban in Texas and drove down to get it, then had the money sent directly to sellers account , can't recall the exact amount but I think in addition to the "exchange rates" I had to pay like 30-40 dollar fee.

Also try Canada Post Money Orders.
