Ormond Beach car show pictures
« on: November 29, 2011 - 10:44:04 PM »
I was going to attend the Daytona Turkey Run this past Thanksgiving weekend as I usually do, but at the last minute we decided to attend another show in nearby (about 5-6 miles away) Ormond Beach. This was a show for original cars, and there were about 150 beautiful examples, including a steam car, a number of mopars, and lots of others. One old ford had what looked like a wood box with the ignition coils inside (see pic of open hood), and they were made out of wood too! I think an engineering degree would have helped to get the steamer going. Heres a link to some of the pictures I posted:

and another link to a few pictures from another show just down the street in a shopping center parking lot with about 400 cars and trucks. Only saw one e-body all weekend!
Considering there were at least 5000 cars at the Turkey Run, plus several other shows nearby, I would say there were a LOT of classic cars per capita in town! Do the math...Im guessing literally a quarter billion dollars worth of classic cars. Almost enough to lend to a Washington DC corporate crony.
Sorry, heres the 2nd link. Only one e-body, and a cool viper with a viper bike and trailer (for sale). In fact, LOTS of stuff was for sale. The sport fury was one of my favorites.

Sweet looking cars for sure.  Mine have been put away since late October. Although with no snow yet I could be having fun with them.

My brother used to live in nearby 'Wilber By The Sea' and we stayed there during a couple Georgia/Florida weekends when I was in college.  Beautiful area, and great local seafood at least back then.  Our favorite place we had to drive out onto the jetties<sp?> where the fishing boats came in and there was a seafood restaurant over the water that had an opening in the middle of the floor looking down into the water where they had lights & lots of fish.  Cool aquarium for sure!  Sorry about the trip down memory lane, kind of fell in love with the area ...

thats in Port Orange, which is an area I could see myself moving to in a decade or so, Thats a few miles south of Daytona, and Ormond is on the north end. Lots to do around there, with Daytona and all, and Orlando about an hour away. Water sports, canoeing and lots of nature and great parks, not to mention the great views of every rocket launched from Cape Canaveral.
