Engine run stand wiring
« on: November 30, 2011 - 06:27:30 PM »
Hey guys,
I've been working out the wiring I need for my engine stand with the help of CP.
Here's what I've got, thought I'd post it here to see what you guys think?

Cheers!

Looks good to me, may want to stick a fuse on the ignition circuit...couldn't hurt. 20a fuse on the fans may not be enough, consider a breaker as well. If you are breaking in an engine and you hiccup something, at least it'll reset itself if all is fine.

Small priming electric fuel pump would be pretty fancy as well.

Looks good!

Thanks Goody,
I wondered about a fuse on the ignition circuit...   what amperage would you fit?

I had changed the fan fuse to 30A with a 40A relay.
Pretty new to automotive electrics, so I'm treating this project as a warm up to wiring the car itself.

Any tips or advice is always appreciated!
Cheers!

for the 20 min tun in you will be right beside the engine tweaking any way , if the fuse blows the engine will shut down , you can shut it off if there is a problem so I would not worry , play with timing a carb as soon as it fires , watch the temp & keep a hose handy to keep too if it runs hot
