Quick fuel gauge question
« on: December 02, 2011 - 11:06:38 PM »
We just put the dash in tonight (whew)! The dash was upside down for a while, when the dash was turned right side up and installed, the fuel gauge needle flopped over to the full side. Now before I tighten up all the bolts and route all the wires, will the gauge go back to normal when power is applied or should I take the dash out again and make sure the needle is pointed in the right direction?

Now is the time to remove the dash again if I have to. It would be very sad if I installed the whole interior and got the car back together only to find that the needle is stuck on full.

I would check the gauge now , you can connect 9v battery to it briefly before you pull the dash but it sounds like something is wrong

:iagree: Definately check it now. I highly doubt putting any juice to it will bring it the proper postion. You probably know this already (just in case you didn't), never keep a full 12 volts to it for long if testing with the car's battery should you not have a 9v.

There was a problem with gauge. The needle was disconnected from the actuator. It really highlighted how much I need reading glasses. In any case I had a spare that was working that I replaced it with. I was also able to repair the one having problems. Thanks for the input.
