Paint bare steel

Hi guys, I just received my Mopar body cart (in Bare Metal) and I want to protect it fom rust. I am looking for suggestions on how to do this. I did not order it powdercoated as the it will be attached when the car goes in for media blasing. 

I was thinking about the Por 15 starter kit.

Por 15 will work. Just have gloves on when you apply it. Otherwise you will have the paint on your skin and finger nails for days.

I recommend you wash the all the bare metal in a Metal Conditioner first.
After that, lightly scuff off the white residue with a 3M Scotch Brite. Then Spray Epoxy primer.
Some will say Ospho. My 2 cents is they're all phosphate based. I bought my metal conditioner at the ACE hardware. 1 Quart should do a whole car once diluted. Nasty stuff on your skin. 

Make sure you ask the paint supply store that you want to buy a "Direct to metal Primer"
There are many brands and prices will vary. I used Five Star Extreme. Pretty good stuff but on the higher pricing. About 60 bucks for a Quart kit. Versatile since it can be done as a Sealer, Epoxy, or just a prime depending on how you do ratio.

Anything that you put on is going to get blasted off if the person doing
the blasting hits it. Just the nature of the beast. I suppose you could
paint it, and then touch it up after the blast work is done.

Can you explain to me what is a Mopar body cart?
I'm not seeing in my mind what that is.

It is a nice floor cage squared usually with wheels and has risers welded on it to bolt to the frame rails for keeping the car square when doing extensive body panel replacement.

Why spend the money painting it?
Unless you plan on leaving it on one for decades.

The Autotwirler Mopar Cart bolts directly onto your Mopar body at the K frame location and the front shackle bracket mount. The front two wheels are tied together with a piece of tubing to provide lateral support so you can ratchet it down to the trailer during transport.

The Shell will on this off and on over the course of my build. which I extimate to be 2-3 years as budget permits. Just would rather not leave it in bare metal form. I am in the process of disassembly and am ready to remove the fron tand rear suspensions.

I would have had it powdercoated. They blast the shell, not the cart... sure ,blasting will damage the paint somewhat, but it`s pretty tough and it wont fall off as long as they don`t hit it directly.  If you want to keep it nice and shiny, finish the car ,then blast and paint it...
