what parts are different between manual and power brakes?
« on: December 12, 2011 - 03:45:50 PM »
Besides the booster and M/C what else is different? Reason I am asking is I'm wanting to swap over to a Hydroboost system this winter and want to use the bell crank that comes with the power brake set up. Looking at other members photo's I can see that on a power brake set up the booster is mounted higher. My car now is a manual brake car so that's all I have to go on? So what all is different? I assume the reinforcing plate on the firewall is different, but what about the pedal bracket under the dash? :dunno:  anything else ? :clueless:

under dash is all the same , you may not need the power brake linkage depending how you mount the hydroboost unit , you should be able to get away with a straight pushrod

Some members are saying it's too sensitive with the straight pushrod? Just thought I would round up all the parts I need just in case I find that too?

Ya thanks! Looks like it moves the M/C up about 1"-1 1/2"  or so? So I must need the firewall plate too! I just checked my pedal and just like CP said ..it's the same!
Thanks :2thumbs:
